Yes, keep "normal" and "successful" in those quotation marks - it really is our definition that counts. Just because it looks good on paper, as a title or generally in society, doesn't mean it will make us happy.
Regarding "lack of finances", my latest new thing has meant a cut in income but makes me very happy. It's all about weighing it up and testing the fit.
